Episode 007--Jay DeMerit: Competitive Mindset- "Act As If" Principle

Show Notes

Today Jay and I discuss the multi-sport athlete vs. specialization debate and how it relates specifically to young Soccer players in the United States.

We talk about Jay's "Act As If" principle which was a culmination of mental training techniques he experienced while he was playing for Watford FC in the English Championship and Premiership. Jay breaks it down and explains how and when to use it effectively to help you achieve greatness.

We then go into how athletes (or human beings in general) can better prepare for success and seize the opportunity when it comes.

Other topics we touch on:

-Mentally preparing to play against Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney and others.

-Teaching young players to be more well-rounded people to set themselves up for success later in life.

This episode is packed with actionable information that any player, coach and/or fan can take with them and prepare for success.
